Demetrious Johnson is using every possible avenue to get an edge in his black belt debut.
The reigning ONE flyweight MMA world champion has taken the world of Brazilian jiu-jitsu by storm, and he's now a few days away from his first black belt tournament at the 2024 IBJJF World Master Championship.
Johnson, who holds two IBJJF gold medals as a brown belt, is now in Las Vegas to prepare for the tournament on August 29. He quickly linked up with ONE flyweight submission grappling world champion Mikey Musumeci.
The pair of ONE world champions decided to train together at Faito Tamashii Combat Club, where they also rolled with former UFC world champions Aljamain Sterling and Brandon Moreno.

Johnson now aims to capture his first BJJ gold medal as a black belt this weekend at the Las Vegas Marriott Convention Center.
Demetrious Johnson says it's been humbling to train BJJ with Mikey Musumeci
Demetrious Johnson may be one of the greatest MMA fighters ever, but he never let that prestige get in the way of his humility.
In his previous training session with Mikey Musumeci, Johnson said he experienced what one of the greatest BJJ artists is fully capable of.
Johnson wrote on Instagram:
"Well, this was an experience 😂 there are truly levels to this game!! Thank you @mikeymusumeci for exposing me to them oooosssss!!"
Musumeci, the reigning ONE flyweight submission grappling world champion, is a five-time BJJ world champion and is often considered one of this generation's best BJJ artists.
