The ONE 167 card last June 7 was supposed to be Denice Zamboanga's shot at the ONE women's atomweight MMA world title. But the current divisional queen, Stamp Fairtex, was forced out of their matchup due to the knee injury she suffered in the buildup of the match.

This prompted ONE Championship to find a new opponent for Zamboanga, and Noelle Grandjean accepted the short-notice offer from the promotion.

Highlights of this thrilling atomweight MMA battle between Zamboanga and Grandjean were reposted by the world's largest martial arts organization on their Instagram account with the following caption:

'The Menace' displayed her constantly improving striking skills by snapping back the head of the French-Thai star. Zamboanga spammed Grandjean with a one-two punch combination.

When 'Lil Monkey' found no success on the feet, she tried to take Zamboanga down, but the Filipina MMA star flexed her superior wrestling and grappling to threaten with several submission attempts and rain down vicious ground and pound strikes.

Eventually, Zamboanga secured a masterful unanimous decision victory to pick up her sixth win under the promotion.

Denice Zamboanga forecasts a stoppage win against Alyona Rassohyna at ONE Fight Night 27 showdown for interim gold

While waiting for the return of Stamp from injury, the T-Rex MMA representative will face number four-ranked contender Alyona Rassohyna for the ONE interim women's atomweight MMA world title on Jan. 10 in the co-main event of ONE Fight Night 27.

Ahead of the championship fight, Zamboanga spoke to ABS-CBN in a recent interview, and said she sees herself winning via stoppage against the Ukrainian contender in front of the Lumpinee Stadium crowd in Bangkok:

"I'm confident that I'll get to finish her wherever it goes, whether it be on the feet or on the ground."
