Elias Mahmoudi regrets missing weight in match at ONE Fight Night 26

Elias Mahmoudi regrets missing weight in his flywweight Muay Thai showdown with Denis Puric at ONE Fight Night 26 on Dec. 6. He said a hand injury in the lead-up made it hard for him to maintain weight within the prescribed limit of 135 pounds.

Mahmoudi battled Puric in a catchweight bout at 138.76 lbs in what turned out to be a thrilling contest that saw the former winning by knockout in the final seconds of the third and final round.

'The Sniper' shared his thoughts on missing weight in his last fight, and touched on how a hand injury he sustained weeks ahead of fight night made it truly challenging to train and keep his weight down within the flyweight limit.

Elias Mahmoudi shared in a post-fight interview with ONE broadcast analyst Mitch Chilson:

"I don't want to make some excuse for this failure, I'm sorry but three weeks before my fight, I broke my hand but I didn't say anything because I want to honor what I asked from my fight. But this injury hurt my training very hard because I couldn't go to training."

For missing weight, Mahmoudi missed out on the opprtunity to win another $50,000 performance bonus from ONE Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong, which is given to exemplary performances by fighters.
