Brazilian fighter Fabricio Andrade long sought to be a world champion, so it was little wonder that he was engulfed with so much emotion when it finally became a reality.
“Wonder Boy” completed his conquest of the ONE bantamweight world title on February 24 at ONE Fight Night 7 on Prime Video in Bangkok with a fourth-round technical knockout victory over former world champion and rival John Lineker.
Fabricio Andrade stayed true to his word that he would seize the vacant world title after his first world championship showdown with Lineker ended in a no-contest back in October.
It did not come easy for him as his opponent came prepared for the rematch but he still managed to inflict more damage that eventually proved too much for Lineker to deal with.

Fabricio Andrade finished the fourth round in a flurry that left his opponent with a nasty cut above the right eye. Just before the start of the fifth and final round, Lineker’s camp saw it fit to wave the white flag to protect its fighter who was no longer in a good position to continue.
ONE Championship shared a video on Instagram of the newly minted ONE bantamweight king being emotional during the post-fight interview.
It captioned the post with:
When all the struggle and sacrifice finally pays off 🥺🙏 @fabricioandrade1 #ONEFightNight7

Fabricio Andrade urges Stephen Loman to challenge him for his newly won world title
After claiming the vacant ONE bantamweight world title, Fabricio Andrade is now setting his sights on his next challenge, and he sees it against Filipino contender Stephen 'The Sniper' Loman.
Immediately after his victory over John Lineker in their clash for the bantamweight belt, “Wonder Boy” made it known that he is giving Loman a shot at the title.
Andrade was direct, stating:
“We already got a contender in line. [Stephen] Loman, you want this? Come and get it.”
Fabricio Andrade ascended to the top of the ONE bantamweight division by battering Lineker in the main event of ONE Fight Night 7 on Prime Video on February 24 in Bangkok.
It did not come easy for him, however, as he also absorbed damage along the way. Ultimately, though, he just had more to give in the end on the way to the well-deserved victory.
Loman, meanwhile, is now the consensus next world title contender in the division. He has been streaking since making his ONE debut in December 2021, winning all three of his fights to date.
His latest win was over former ONE bantamweight world champion Bibiano Fernandes by unanimous decision back in November.
