Fabricio Andrade is getting a lot of time to hang out in one of the world’s most famous arenas.

The number one contender at bantamweight dropped in on last weekend’s ONE Friday Fights 5 event in Bangkok, which took place at the same venue as his fight this Friday- Lumpinee Boxing Stadium.

Andrade posted a video to his Instagram profile of his time at the Friday Fights event, where he got to go backstage, watch his friends compete, and be inspired for his world title fight on February 24. Take a look:

The main event of ONE Friday Fights 5 saw Superball Tded99 win a unanimous decision in a war with Konklai Annymuaythai. The event saw a whopping nine finishes in twelve fights.

Bangkok’s Lumpinee Boxing Stadium has become the new home of ONE Championship, having already hosted six events in just over a month. Their seventh and eighth event will go down this weekend in a double header of ONE Friday Fights 6 and ONE Fight Night 7.

Fabricio Andrade will take part in perhaps ONE’s biggest event so far in Lumpinee, rematching John Lineker in the main event of ONE Fight Night 7 for the vacant bantamweight world championship. Aside from the guaranteed action of the fight, storylines criss-cross in every direction due to the history and unfulfilled rivalry between the two fighters.

The Lumpinee Boxing Stadium adds one more wrinkle to the narrative, changing the setting of their fight from a cage to a ring. The ring changes the movement patterns of the action and affects the strategies behind wrestling, making the fight harder to predict.

Anatoly Malykhin highlights Fabricio Andrade’s “pushy” style that leaves little room for error

Fabricio Andrade’s aggression feels surprising to many foes, and even the ONE light heavyweight and interim heavyweight world champion feels that too.

Anatoly Malykhin is a teammate of Andrade at Phuket’s Tiger Muay Thai gym. Speaking to ONE Championship ahead of his stablemate’s attempt to win his first world title, this is what Malykhin had to say of Andrade’s style.

"Andrade is a good striker and that is his main skill and advantage. He knows how to put pressure on. In sparring, he can be very pushy. If you make a mistake, he seizes the opportunity to punish you, he turns the pressure on full blast."

Although just 8-2 in professional MMA and 25 years of age, Fabricio Andrade has been fighting competition much above his perceived level for the past four years and riding an eight-fight unbeaten streak. Before fighting John Lineker last fall, he’d knocked out three of his prior opponents in the first round.

ONE Fight Night 7 goes down this Friday, February 24, from Bangkok, Thailand, and will be broadcast live and for free on Prime Video for all Amazon subscribers in North America.
