Brazilian knockout artist John Lineker has compiled an impressive list of explosive finishes in ONE Championship, which included one that had him dethroning legend Bibiano Fernandes as the bantamweight MMA world champion.
The two touched gloves at ONE: Lights Out on March 11, 2022, in Singapore for the bantamweight gold of 'The Flash.' Lineker struggled early in the match but eventually found his groove as things moved on.
'Hands of Stone' picked things up in the second frame, engaging Fernandes in a spirited shootout. It proved to work to John Lineker's advantage as he was able to set up midway a nasty combination of a right hook to the body and left hook to the face that sent the longtime champion to the mat. With Fernandes greatly reeling from the solid hit, the contest was waved off at the 3:40 mark of the round.
ONE Championship revisited the impressive KO win of Lineker over Fernandes in an Instagram post in line with his scheduled return to action in January.
