Akbar Abdullaev gave ONE featherweight MMA world champion Tang Kai a beating on his way to a TKO win in their headlining catchweight showdown at ONE Fight Night 27 on Jan. 10 in Thailand. The win further underscored the Kyrgyzstani's standing as an emerging force in the featherweight class.
The KO artist came out exactly knew what he wanted to accomplish. He took the fight to Tang with a lot of ferocity and steadily tore down the erstwhile invincible Chinese warrior. It all culminated in him finishing his opponent in the fifth round with a fierce ground-and-pound that Tang simply had no answer to.

The contest was initially for the ONE featherweight MMA world title but Akbar Abdullaev missed weight and hydration tests, forcing the match to be played at a catchweight of 156.75 pounds.
While he rued missing the chance of becoming world champion and possibly winning a $50,000 performance bonus as part of his penalty, he still is proud of his perfomance, which kept his undefeated professional record at 12-0 now.

Akbar Abdullaev takes a lot of pride in his impressive TKO win over Tang Kai at ONE Fight Night 27 on Jan. 10, which he also credited to his team who made sure he was prepared for the fight.
The undefeated fighter made sure to give props to the team behind him during the post-fight interview following his victory, highlighting that it was a collective effort for them in the huge win.
"I want to say thank you specifically to my team right there. Without them, I wouldn't be here. Without a team that strong, champions aren't made."
For ONE Fight Night 27, Abdullaev was assisted by his coaches at Al Munar Team and Tiger Muay Thai.
