Joe Rogan and BJJ wizard Gordon Ryan recently shared their thoughts on Mikey Musumeci’s unique grappling style and his highly irregular diet of pasta and pizza.
During a recent episode of "The Joe Rogan Experience," the longtime MMA commentator shared his thoughts on reigning ONE flyweight submission grappling world champion Mikey Musumeci. The podcaster, alongside Gordon Ryan, marveled at the training routine of ‘Darth Rigatoni’ who puts in upwards of 12 hours per day at the gym:
“He’s so good and so weird. All he does is eat pasta and pizza and he only eats once a day. He’s a f*cking genius too.
“He drills 12 hours a day, every day. That’s where you get results. You get results doing those incredibly uncomfortable things.”

Gordon Ryan chimed in during the conversation, sharing his training experience with Musumeci:
“His legs are shorter proportionately than his upper body. So you’re trying to pass his guard and [Musumeci’s] little tiny feet slip into places they normally wouldn’t be able to because his legs are so short. So I’m like f*cking trying to pass his guard and stuff and his feet are coming inside my arms. I’m like, ‘I don’t know what to do here.’"
Even Anatoly Malykhin is afraid of Mikey Musumeci
After walking past former two-division world champion Reinier de Ridder at ONE on Prime Video 5 in December, you’d think no man could strike fear into the heart of the Russian juggernaut Anatoly Malykhin. As it turns out, there is at least one man Malykhin wants no part of. The man is submission grappling sensation Mikey Musumeci.
Following his win over ‘The Dutch Knight’ last month, Malykhin shared his lack of interest in rolling with Musumeci while speaking at the event’s post-fight press conference:
"He's such a strong little guy. I wouldn't want to meet him in a cage, honestly."
Through two appearances inside the Circle, Mikey Musumeci has been nothing short of spectacular, earning decisive wins over legend Masakazu Imanari and Cleber Sousa. Musumeci will return to ONE Fight Night 6 on January 13 to defend his ONE flyweight submission grappling world title against Sambo world champion and BJJ brown belt, Gantumur Bayanduuren.
ONE Fight Night 7 will air live and for free to subscribers in the U.S. primetime on Amazon Prime Video.
