Apparently, John Lineker has tremendous hand speed now. That's a scary idea considering how powerful his punches are. 'Hands of Stone' is one of the most frightening punchers in the bantamweight division in MMA. He is arguably the first fighter in flyweight history to ever have a reputation as a one-punch knockout artist.
Now fighting as a bantamweight in ONE Championship, John Lineker is cleaning up his boxing skills by adding more speed to his already skull-crushing fists. He now reminds us of Mike Tyson, who famously made "two punches sound like one".
In a recent video posted by ONE Championship, we saw the former ONE bantamweight world champion balancing a heavy ball in mid-air by simply punching it repeatedly.

"“Hands of Stone” is QUICK with it 🥊 John Lineker runs it back with Fabricio Andrade for the vacant ONE Bantamweight World Title on February 24 at ONE Fight Night 7 on Prime Video! 🏆 @johnlinekermma"
"Hands of Lightning" might be a more fitting addition to Lineker's collection of fight monikers. The way he kept the ball floating in the air was just unbelievably amazing. Lineker proves that knockout power won't really work if you can't connect. Hence, work on your hand speed to make sure your punches land before your opponents see them.
John Lineker plans to use better boxing fundamentals in Fabricio Andrade rematch
It looks like it's not just hand speed that John Lineker is honing ahead of his rematch with Fabricio Andrade at ONE Fight Night 7. He is also looking at improving on other aspects of boxing, namely distance control, footwork and head movement.
In an interview with Sportskeeda MMA, 'Hands of Stone' gave us an insight into the changes he's planning to make in the rematch with his rival Fabricio Andrade:
“The strategy won't change much, but I'm improving a few things. I've been working on footwork, how to better move my head, and how to better shorten the distance during the fight. I'm going to keep practically the same game, only more evolved.”
John Lineker had problems when he tried to close the distance against Andrade in their first fight. 'Wonder Boy' showcased a masterclass on how to pick apart shorter fighters with distance strikes. Perhaps if Lineker invested more in proper footwork and better head movement, he may have had a better chance of closing the gap and ripping Andrade inside. What's good is that 'Hands of Stone' is quite aware of this flaw and has made ways to fix it.
