One of the most exciting battles in combat sports history recently took place when Jonathan Di Bella and Zhang Peimian went to war for the ONE strawweight kickboxing world championship.

After a grueling five-round showdown, the Canadian-Italian fighter Jonathan Di Bella dropped the 18-year-old kickboxing prodigy with a head kick in the final round. Fans can enjoy a cage-side view of this incredible moment shared by ONE Championship:

It was a perfectly timed head kick as ‘Fighting Rooster' attempted a lead hook and left himself open. In that split-second opening, Di Bella hammered his opponent with a kick that sent Zhang to the mat. Peimian struggled to get back to his feet.

Ultimately, this world championship showdown went to the judges' scorecards who unanimously chose Jonathan Di Bella as the new ONE strawweight kickboxing world titleholder.

Jonathan Di Bella says it's all hard work

Di Bella is undefeated between professional kickboxing and boxing. He now adds a ONE world title to his name. His championship win even got a shoutout from arguably the greatest of all time in MMA, Georges St-Pierre. The Canadian-Italian fighter credits all of his success to hard work.

In the post-fight interview, after being adorned with ONE gold, Di Bella explained:

“I’m not surprised! I’m not surprised baby, it’s all hard work. Me and my dad, we’ve been through it all especially in this camp, we’ve been through a crazy car accident, we’ve been through all over crazy things and we still made it out here.”

After earning a major world title in ONE Championship's prestigious kickboxing division, Di Bella also thanked his fans for all their support. On Instagram, the fighter posted:
