At ONE on Prime Video 4, Jonathan Haggerty returned to competition with a new challenge on his doorstep. ‘The General’ moved up a weight class to make his bantamweight debut against Vladimir Kuzmin and walked away with a majority decision victory.
All the talk about the fight being a tough test for Haggerty turned out to be true.
The fight came down to a razor-close decision, with Haggerty edging out the latter two rounds after Kuzmin had a strong opening.
One of the things Haggerty had spoken a lot about in the build-up was the extra power that he had acquired due to moving up in weight.

In a video posted by ONE Championship, Haggerty’s punching power is on full display as he lands a sickening left hook to Kuzmin’s body.
Make sure you turn the sound up for this one:
After being successful on his 135lbs debut, Jonathan Haggerty could start to look up at the top challengers in the bantamweight division. The former flyweight Muay Thai world champion may had to dig deep to get the job done. But, he comes away from ONE on Prime Video 4 with a flag laid down in the ground at bantamweight.
Jonathan Haggerty asks ONE Championship "Who’s next?", fans respond
At ONE on Prime Video 4, Jonathan Haggerty picked up his first win in the bantamweight division to kickstart his campaign at a new weight.
‘The General’ defeated Vladimir Kuzmin in a very close fight via majority decision. The fight was Haggerty’s second of the year after illness had kept him out of the competition for the majority of 2022.
With another win on his record, the 26-year-old is looking to get back in the circle sooner rather than later. He recently posted on Instagram to ask his fans where he should go from here.
Haggerty fans eagerly accepted the challenge, offering ‘The General’ the following names:
“Savvas Michael or Vladimir Kuzmin rematch”
“Kulabdam [Sor. Jor. Piek Uthai]”
“Saemapetch vs Haggerty it's gonna be FIRE 🔥🔥”
“Rodtang rematch....🙌"
All these suggestions have merit, even a rematch with Kuzmin after how close their fight was. Whilst their contest was entertaining on both sides, Jonathan Haggerty has plans to get closer to the champion, Nong-O Gaiyanghadao.
The toughest test of all the bantamweight suggestions would likely be Saemapetch Fairtex. With his No.1 spot in the rankings, Saemapetch versus Haggerty would be a high-stakes matchup. It'd probably see the winner get a shot at the world championship.
