ONE lightweight submission grappling world champion Kade Ruotolo showcased the versatility of his Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ) arsenal with a pro-wrestling-like slam of Matheus Gabriel when he defended the crown at ONE on Prime Video 5 in December 2022.
While they were jockeying for position on the feet, Ruotolo quickly dropped down and picked at the Brazilian's ankle to pull him closer. Ruotolo clasped his hands together and then slammed Gabriel on his back with full force.
The world's largest martial arts promotion shared the highlight-reel maneuver on Instagram:

Ruotolo ultimately retained the ONE lightweight submission grappling world championship over Gabriel by unanimous decision, earning his third win under the ONE banner.
The 21-year-old has since extended his winning streak in ONE's submission grappling to six. That run includes two stellar defenses of the 170-pound submission grappling crown over Tommy Langaker in June 2023 and January 2024.
This past June at ONE 167, Ruotolo introduced himself to the lightweight MMA division with a first-round submission of Blake Cooper.
The Atos product will have his second MMA bout at ONE 169: Malykhin vs. 'Reug Reug' on Nov. 8 inside the Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, against Ahmed Mujtaba.
Kade Ruotolo also wants to dominate MMA landscape
Kade Ruotolo's success in combat sports is mainly because of his ambition to be the best, which he hopes to translate into MMA greatness.
Speaking with MMA Junkie, Ruotolo shared:
"I feel like in jiu-jitsu, I've gotten to the top of the mountain, you know, in the most humble way possible. My brother and I, we've pretty much accomplished everything you can in jiu-jitsu. So with that being said, the next big mountain is MMA."
ONE 169 will air live and free to all Prime Video subscribers in the United States and Canada.
