Kade Ruotolo, one-half of ONE Championship's famed The Ruotolo Brothers, is one of the most feared men on the mats today. His combination of unbelievable athleticism, hyper-aggression, top-notch technique and insane creativity is unmatched.
Speaking of creativity, one submission that has been synonymous with both Tye and Kade Ruotolo is their dreaded "Buggy Choke". It's quite an inventive choke that is usually applied from the side control-bottom. Mechanically, it resembles a triangle choke with a little added assistance from an arm.
It's quite unexpected and nasty at the same time. It has become a staple in their arsenal specifically because it compliments their long limbs. Tye and Kade Ruotolo have become such experts on the choke that they've found ways to counter it with the same choke.
Here's a video of their "Buggy Choke" counter:

Let this be a lesson, never attempt a Buggy choke on a Ruotolo brother. Attempting to slay a warrior with his own weapon can be bad for your health - perhaps even embarrassing to your ego.
Kade Ruotolo finishes 2022 as ONE's Submission Grappling Athlete of the Year
Teenage grappling phenom Kade Ruotolo capped off 2022 by winning ONE Championship's Submission Grappling Athlete of the Year award.
The young prodigy beat other strong contenders for the award with his string of amazing victories last year. Ruotolo steamrolled fellow BJJ black belt Matheus Gabriel, Russian sambo world champion Uali Kurzhev, and Japanese MMA legend Shinya Aoki. In the process, Ruotolo became the first-ever ONE lightweight submission grappling world champ and successfully defended his throne once.
On top of all his great achievements in ONE, Ruotolo also won a gold medal at the 2022 ADCC World Championship, becoming the legendary tournament's youngest world champion. He also did so by submitting every single opponent in his bracket - also a first in ADCC.
The Ruotolo twin is not even close to his prime and he's already achieved more things than most grapplers would in their entire careers.
With tremendous wins and world championships under his belt just last year, expect the 20-year-old grappling machine to reach even further in 2023. No official opponent has been put in front of Kade in ONE Championship yet, but whoever it is, we're sure it will be an epic match-up yet again.
