In June 2023, Ruotolo faced his toughest test under the ONE Championship banner against Langaker. At the time, the American superstar was coming off his first successful defense of his ONE lightweight submission grappling world title. Ruotolo and Langaker needed the entire ten minutes to settle their meeting at ONE Fight Night 11. Once the dust settled, the ONE lightweight submission grappling world champion retained his throne by unanimous decision.

Seven months later, Tommy Langaker challenged Kade Ruotolo for his world title in a rematch at ONE 165. Langaker showcased his world-class grappling skills by once again pushing Ruotolo to the limit. Unfortunately for him, he still wasn't able to secure ONE gold, as the American superstar won by unanimous decision.
Since then, Langaker hasn't competed under the ONE banner, while Ruotolo has made two appearances. The 21-year-old phenom started by taking out Francisco Lo in a catchweight submission grappling bout. He later returned on June 7 and submitted Blake Cooper in the first round of his professional MMA debut.

Kade Ruotolo has his eyes set on becoming a world champion in MMA. The reigning lightweight submission grappling king doesn't plan on forgetting his primary sport, as he's scheduled for a massive super-fight later this year.
On September 6, ONE Championship will return to North America for ONE 168: Denver. In the co-main event, Ruotolo looks to defend his lightweight throne against ONE flyweight submission grappling world champion Mikey Musumeci, who looks to make history as the first two-division title holder in the sport.
Ruotolo (6-0) and Musumeci (7-0) hold undefeated promotional records, making their matchup must-see action at ONE 168.
