Bellator lightweight champion Usman Nurmagomedov's recent fight caused his cousin and MMA star Khabib Nurmagomedov to go through a roller coaster of emotions. Usman locked horns against Alexandr Shabliy in a five-round lightweight clash for the Bellator title.

The matchup headlined the Bellator Champions Series 4 event which took place on Sept. 7 at the Pechanga Arena in San Diego, California.

Nurmagomedov gave a good account of himself and outclassed his opponent for the majority of the fight. A big moment came in the fourth round when the Dagestani landed a head kick that appeared to hurt Shabliy. Nurmagomedov proceeded to attempt a guillotine choke on his opponent but was unsuccessful.

Khabib, who was in the Bellator champion's corner along with UFC bantamweight Umar Nurmagomedov, got excited by the moment. Overcome by emotion, 'The Eagle' wrapped his arm around Umar's neck and attempted to choke him for a bit before letting it go.

The contest eventually went the five-round distance and Nurmagomedov took home the victory via unanimous decision. The three judges scored the bout 50-45, 49-46 and 49-46 in favor of the Dagestani.

With the victory, Nurmagomedov continues to be undefeated as a professional fighter and now has an MMA record of 18-0-1NC.

The no-contest is related to his clash against Brent Primus at Bellator 300. Nurmagomedov originally won the fight via unanimous decision, but the result was later changed to a no-contest due to him failing a drug test.

The fighter was fined a sum of $50,000 by the California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) and also suspended from the sport for six months.
