Three words to describe Liam Harrison's technique here: sneaky, subtle, and devastating. Kicking your opponent's leg while it's firmly planted on the ground will make the impact of the kick more damaging. His subtle way of luring his opponent to push forward and put weight on the front foot is sneaky and not always seen even by seasoned fighters. Effective indeed.
We've witnessed Harrison end bouts with his low kick and now we know what his subtle secret to landing it is. Better start drilling this in the gym today.
In his most recent bout, Liam Harrison was ironically finished by a low kick by Nong-O Gaiyanghadao
In the co-main event of ONE on Prime Video 1 back in August 2022, Liam Harrison stepped into the Circle to challenge ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world champion Nong-O Gaiyanghadao for the belt. It was one of those ironic moments where a warrior was beaten with his own special weapon as Nong-O starched Harrison's leg with a low kick that ended the bout.
Liam Harrison and Nong-O started the match almost mirroring each other's attacks, blow-for-blow. Nong-O, however, appeared to have a clear speed advantage over the Brit. Nong-O landed a crushing low kick that wobbled 'The Hitman' and then followed it up with another that put him on his backside.
As the referee started the count, Harrison looked over at his corner, seemingly telling them that his whole leg was damaged and that he couldn’t get up anymore. Two kicks. That was all it took to finish one of the greatest low kickers in the sport today. Nong-O is definitely an elite amongst the elites.
The win snapped Harrison's 5-fight winning streak and further solidified Nong-O's legacy as the greatest Muay Thai fighter of his generation.
