Manchester City proposes to extend Julian Alvarez's contract

Manchester City striker Julian Alvarez recently made it known that he wants to leave the club in the upcoming summer transfer window. However, the World Cup 2022 winner is an essential part of Pep Guardiola's squad and the Blues are ready to make a bid for the star and offer him a one-year extension. Fabrizio Romano announced the news on Twitter:

"Manchester City have made a proposal to Julián Álvarez to extend the contract for one more year (2028) on improved terms. There’s no full green light yet from the player, still not 100% agreed. Understand Álvarez has to decide in the next weeks, probably within March."

Take a look at the tweet:

Julian Alvarez, who played a pivotal role in the Argentina squad that lifted the World Cup, plays second fiddle to Erling Haaland at Manchester City. The former River Plate striker is looking to get a starting role at one of Europe's big clubs and with a resume like his and form to match, makes Alvarez one of the most wanted strikers in the modern game.
