Heavyweight powerhouse Marcus 'Buchecha' Almeida has been an unstoppable force since entering ONE Championship. That was evident in his quick submission of Kirill Grishenko at ONE Fight Night 1 on Prime Video.
'Buchecha' is a perfect 4-0 inside the circle, with four opening-round finishes. He needed just a few minutes to lock in a heel hook submission on Grishkenko.
The six-foot-three Brazilian multi-time world jiu-jitsu and ADCC submission fighting champion's success has carried over to MMA.

'Buchecha' believes he's trending towards a heavyweight title shot
Almeida's immense success against a robust schedule has catapulted him into the ONE Championship heavyweight world title picture. He told the promotion that it's only a matter of time before he competes for the belt.
'Buchecha' stated:
“I have no one to challenge. But I am an employee of the company and the mission given to me I will be ready. I'm sure I'm getting closer to my goal, which is to fight for the title and win the belt. I have four fights and four wins.”
He added:
“Among the heavyweights, I'm the guy who's been fighting the most, so I'm on the right track. I'm sure I'll get this chance to fight for the belt soon.”
The heavyweight world title is scheduled to be unified at ONE Fight Night 8 on Prime Video this March, as Arjan Bhullar and Anatoly Malykhin will square off for a seat on the division's undisputed throne.
Malykhin secured the interim heavyweight belt with his stoppage victory over Kirill Grishenko in February 2022. Meanwhile, Bhullar attained heavyweight gold back in April 2021 by beating Brandon Vera via TKO.
Almeida aims to face the winner of the upcoming title unification bout. His first-round finishes over Anderson Silva, Kang Ji Won, Simon Carson, and the aforementioned Grishenko have positioned him for a title shot.
