Mikey Musumeci used high-level creativity to defeat Gantumur Bayanduuren at ONE Fight Night 6 on Prime Video.
Musumeci’s first ONE flyweight submission grappling world title defense came against a Mongolian combat sambo world champion on January 13. ‘Darth Rigatoni’ was unable to secure a finish, but the 26-year-old made a statement with various leg lock attempts.
ONE Championship posted an Instagram video of the American utilizing the ‘Mikey Lock’ with the caption:
“Legs are NOT supposed to bend that way 😱 @mikeymusumeci”

The ‘Mikey Lock’ is a variation of the leg lock where one would use their head instead of their armpit to control the opponent’s foot while using their hips to apply pressure on the knee. Musumeci invented this technique and applied it to Bayanduuren with full force. The Mongolian somehow didn’t tap, raising concerns about the potential damage to his leg.

Fans react to Gantumur Bayanduuren not tapping to Mikey Musumeci’s brutal leg locks
Anyone watching Mikey Musumeci vs. Gantumur Bayanduuren had to be fascinated by the latter’s toughness.
During his post-fight interview, Musumeci claimed that he heard Bayanduuren’s leg pop several times. When ONE Championship posted the ‘Mikey Lock’ video, MMA fans commented on the Mongolian not tapping. One exclaimed:
“With that degree of tibial external rotation I would safely assume his ACL and MCL are completely ruptured, probably also LCL. Good chance there was meniscus damage due with all the unstabilized rotational torque after the ligaments ruptured.”

“He should have tapped when it was locked. Now he is in for an expensive surgery and many months of rehab, it's probable his mobility or athleticism will never be the same."
