ONE flyweight submission grappling world champion Mikey Musumeci recently had a private session with well-respected 3rd-degree BJJ blackbelt and MMA veteran Tom DeBlass. The two met when DeBlass was invited to teach a class at Musumeci's home gym in Asia, Evolve MMA.

DeBlass is a multi-time BJJ world champion and has had a respectable run in MMA, with a pro record of 9-2. He also runs the famous Ocean County Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu academy, where he coached ADCC veteran and former ONE featherweight world title contender, Garry Tonon. He is also a training partner and cornerman to the consensus No-Gi grappling GOAT, Gordon Ryan.

DeBlass posted about his encounter with Mikey Musumeci in the gym, where he was all praise for 'Darth Rigatoni':

"It was such a pleasure teaching at @evolvemma today. The great @mikeymusumeci stole me after for an impromptu private...The beautiful thing about Mikey is that he is equally as motivated as he is disciplined in his pursuit of excellence. He asked me more questions as the absolute best in the world than most blue belt competitors ask, and that's exactly why he is who he is, forever a student. Here, you see us discussing different ways to finish reverse head and arm, anaconda, darce."

Any die-hard grappling fan will have goosebumps just by watching these two absolute legends share knowledge with each other. Mikey Musumeci, who will defend his belt against Osamah Almarwai at ONE Fight Night 10, will forever see himself as a good student of the game. This admirable sense of humility is what makes 'Darth Rigatoni' a cut above the rest. Tom DeBlass, with all his knowledge and wisdom, sees this clearly as well.

Mikey Musumeci to defend ONE flyweight submission grappling world title against Osamah Almarwai

Mikey Musumeci will defend his ONE flyweight submission grappling world title against Yemeni grappling icon Osamah Almarwai at ONE Fight Night 10.

'Darth Rigatoni' will be defending his throne for the second time this year at ONE's first live show on US soil on May 5th in Broomfield, Colorado. His first world title defense was last January over Mongolian grappler Gantumur Bayanduuren.

At ONE Fight Night 10, the 26-year-old BJJ savant will take on Yemen's first-ever BJJ blackbelt, Almarwai, who may be his toughest opponent in ONE Championship yet.

Osamah Almarwai, commonly known as 'Osa' to his fans, has been training at Atos BJJ HQ in San Diego, training with the Ruotolo brothers under the tutelage of ADCC legend and ONE athlete Andre Galvao.

'Osa' is an IBJF No-GI world champion, Pan No-Gi champion, American Nationals No-Gi champion. He is also on a 6-fight winning streak and will be making his ONE Championship debut against the mild-mannered but feared Mikey Musumeci.
