Thai-Algerian fighter Nabil Anane produced one of the more explosive and impressive victories at ONE 170 on Jan. 24 after he knocked out Scottish martial artist Nico Carrillo in the opening round of their marquee clash for the ONE interim bantamweight Muay Thai world title.
The 6-foot-4 Team Mehdi Zatout standout made full use of his height and reach advantage and sprung up a huge upset in front of a rocking Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand. He stopped the erstwhile invincible 'King of the North' by TKO in the first round by way of three spectacular knockdowns.
Anane set up his victory by landing a sweet one-two combination that stunned Carrillo at the 1:23 mark of the opening canto. Thirty seconds later, he unleashed a solid head kick that had his opponent all wobbly just to beat the count.
Sensing that he had Carrillo on the ropes, the 20-year-old sensation went for the finish, landing a right hand with 25 ticks to go and ending the fight. ONE Championship relived the rousing finish that Nabil Anane essayed against Carrillo with a video post on Instagram,

The win thrust Nabil Anane's name into ONE Championship's roster of champions while extending his winning streak to six straight after making his promotional debut with a loss. He is now looking forward to unifying the belt against reigning divisional king Superlek Kiatmoo9, the man who dealt him his only loss so far in ONE.
Carrillo, meanwhile, saw his four-fight ascent halted and is now reevaluating the direction he wants to take moving forward, including possibly moving up to featherweight.

The towering fighter was one of four athletes who were rewarded with a hefty incentive by ONE Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong for their scintillating performances at the promotion's first numbered event of the year.
Anane joined ONE champions, Tawanchai PK Saenchai and Fabricio Andrade, and Thai fighter Sinsamut Klinmee as $50K bonus winners following their respective dominant finishes in their respective matches.
