WATCH: ONE Championship fights with crazy height differences

ONE Championship boasts a roster featuring the absolute best combat sports athletes in the entire world, but they don’t always match up evenly when stepping inside the circle, in the height department, that is.

In a recent post to the promotion’s YouTube channel, ONE is spotlighting matchups that feature a glaring height difference between the two competitors.

“We bring you some of ONE's most insane fights between athletes with huge height differences, featuring MMA legend Demetrious Johnson, former Olympic wrestler Gustavo Balart, American striking sensation Colbey Northcutt, and MORE!”

Featured in the video clip are reigning ONE flyweight world champion Demetrious Johnson and his division rival, Adriano Moraes. Standing at 5’3”, Johnson gave up 5 inches in height to Moraes, but none of that mattered in their ONE on Prime Video 1 rematch in August. Johnson delivered a magnificent flying knee that connected cleanly with Moraes’ chin, instantly rendering him unconscious.

Currently sitting at 1-1 in the series with one knockout apiece, Johnson and Moraes will meet for the third time when ONE Championship heads to the 1stBank Center in Colorado on May 5 for ONE Fight Night 10 on Prime Video. The pair will headline the historic event as ONE makes its long-awaited debut in the United States.

The card, just like all of ONE Championship’s Amazon events, is available live and for free to all Prime Video subscribers in North America.

Demetrious Johnson shared his strategy for beating larger opponents in ONE Championship

Demetrious Johnson has made a career out of defeating bigger opponents. Recently, ‘Mighty Mouse’ appeared on the YouTube channel fightTIPS to discuss his strategy in fantasy matchups against martial arts legend Bruce Lee, WWE superstar-turned-actor and XFL owner, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson.

“When you land an airplane on a runway, it’s nice and long, it’s nice and wide. But try to land a runway on a rock, you can’t. It can’t find its balance. It can’t be there. So if Dwayne Johnson was on top of me, and he laid on me, if I get small like a rock, I could always be here or rotate him, do what I want, and just tear him up that way.”

That strategy has made Johnson one of the greatest mixed martial artists of all time and the undisputed flyweight GOAT. On May 5, ‘Mighty Mouse’ will get the opportunity to solidify that distinction against Adriano Moraes, one of the most successful fighters in ONE Championship history.
