ONE featherweight Muay Thai world champion Tawanchai PK.Saenchai successfully defended his title for the first time in impressive fashion. In doing so, he thrilled the spectators in attendance, including American recording artist Denzel Curry.

The Thai superstar hardly broke a sweat in disposing of Turkish challenger Jamal Yusupov in their world championship clash on February 24 at ONE Fight Night 7 on Prime Video in Bangkok.

Tawanchai finished the contest just 49 seconds into the proceedings after he unleashed a solid kick to Yusupov’s right leg. The shot immediately immobilized the challenger, prompting the referee to call a halt to the fight.

The crowd at the historic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium went crazy after witnessing the devastating finish fashioned by the local hero. One such combat enthusiast was rap star Curry, who described the kick as sending Yusupov to “the shadow realm.”

A video posted by ONE Championship on Instagram showed Curry's reaction after the Thai phenom's finish.

It was captioned with:

Tawanchai, 23, has been near unstoppable since making his ONE Championship debut in May 2021. He kicked it into higher gear when he became the ONE featherweight Muay Thai world champion back in September after defeating Petchmorakot Petchyindee by unanimous decision.

Meanwhile, apart from his passion for creating music, Florida native Curry also has an affinity for Muay Thai, which is part of his fitness regimen.

The 23-year-old superstar made his promotional debut in May 2021 and has been a juggernaut since. Things picked up a great deal last September when he became world champion by defeating former featherweight Muay Thai king Petchmorakot Petchyindee by unanimous decision.

Tawanchai shared in a ONE video feature how it has been an eventful journey for him so far in the promotion, saying:

“The competition in ONE is elite. In Thailand, I could only face other Thais. Here in ONE, the whole world will know who I am. That’s the scale of the competition here.”

Meanwhile, the reigning champion sounded a further warning to all comers in the division with a devastating technical knockout win in his first defense of his world title over challenger Jamal Yusupov at ONE Fight Night 7 on Prime Video.

The Thai phenom finished Yusupov inside the opening minute of the contest, unleashing a solid kick to the right leg of his opponent from which the Turkish challenger could not recover from.
