The third time was not the charm for Mexican contender Edgar Tabares, as he failed to repeat his spinning elbow technique against reigning ONE flyweight Muay Thai world champion Rodtang Jitmuangnon in their world title match at ONE Fight Night 10 in May 2023.
In a recent video that ONE Championship published on Instagram, Rodtang was able to adjust on the fly mid-fight to make his mark on his U.S. debut with an impressive first-round knockout finish.
The world's largest martial arts organization captioned its post with:
"Interception 💪 How do you see Rodtang's rematch against Jacob Smith unfolding on November 8 at ONE 169: Atlanta? 🔥 @rodtang_jimungnon"

In the video, the former WBC Muay Thai champion landed two spinning elbows against 'The Iron Man' in the opening sequence of the match.
But Rodtang made sure that he won't be able to repeat for the third time, as he blocked the final attempt and countered him with a solid left elbow of his own to not just send Tabares crashing down the canvas but also end the match in the second round.
This marked the fifth successful world title defense of the Thai superstar and continued his dominant reign in the weight class.
Rodtang to face Jacob Smith in a rematch for the world title on Nov. 8 at ONE 169: Atlanta
Fresh off a unanimous decision victory from his previous fight against Denis Puric in June 2024 at ONE 167, the Jitmuangnon Gym representative is ramping up the preparation for his sixth championship defense on Nov. 8 at ONE 169: Atlanta.
There, Rodtang will face a familiar foe in Jacob Smith, the number three-ranked divisional contender in a rematch. The Thai striking sensation drew first blood in their head-to-head battle with a unanimous decision win over the British star in May 2022 at ONE 157.
