Rodtang Jitmuangnon is undoubtedly one of the biggest combat sports stars in the world. Through his incredible performances and exciting fighting style, ‘The Iron Man’ has been able to transcend the sport of Muay Thai.

Whilst many will know him for his dominance inside the circle, it can’t be forgotten that he has been in some close fights during his time with ONE Championship. In particular, his bout with Walter Goncalves in 2019 came down to a split decision.

Goncalves was able to do what nearly every opponent of Rodtang’s fails to accomplish, not letting him bully them into fighting his fight. The Brazilian remained stuck to his game plan and used his timing and tactics to frustrate the defending champion.

Whilst many have come up short in trying to avoid getting into a brawl with Rodtang, Goncalves was able to do it and he pushed ‘The Iron Man’ right to the edge.

Goncalves has gone 2-1 inside the circle since his meeting with the flyweight Muay Thai champion. Rodtang Jitmuangnon, on the other hand, has gone 6-0 since narrowly defending his world title against the Brazilian.

Rodtang Jitmuangnon shares the two fighters who have influenced him the most in his fighting career

ONE flyweight Muay Thai world champion Rodtang Jitmuangnon recently spoke about two of the Thai legends that he draws inspiration from. The Muay Thai superstar may be an established name with an already impressive career but it’s important to remember that he is still young.

Fresh off of another dominant performance in his fight against Joseph ‘The Hurricane’ Lasiri at ONE on Prime Video 4, ‘The Iron Man’ spoke about some fighters he looks up to during his post-fight interview:

“The legend or someone that I look up to is Nai Khanom Tom, one of the legendary boxers in Thailand, and the other person is Buakaw who inspires me in boxing. But as I informed you earlier, this is my career and I have been doing my best all time… I have given it all in my boxing career, and this is what I do best in my life.”

Whilst Rodtang Jitmuangnon may have his own fighters that he draws inspiration from, there is no doubt that he will also inspire many competitors himself. With his ascent to the top of the combat sports world, Rodtang is a once-in-a-lifetime fighter.
