Thai superstar Rodtang Jitmuangnon did not have a world title to defend in his match last week, but he still dealt British striker Jacob Smith another beatdown en route to a convincing decision victory in their rematch. 'The Iron Man' lost the opportunity to defend the ONE flyweight Muay Thai world title after missing weight ahead of his scheduled match at ONE 169: Malykhin vs. Reug Reug on Nov. 8 at the Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

Even with a win over Smith, he was not eligible to win the belt back as part of the repercussions for missing weight. Despite that, Rodtang came out for ONE 169 with fire in his eyes, putting the pressure on Smith right from the onset. He swung the tide in his favor considerably when he cut the Englishman's right eye in the third round with his vaunted elbow strikes.

From there, Smith just did not have enough to stand toe to toe against the Jitmuangnon Gym standout and saw himself slump to the defeat. ONE Championship uploaded highlights of the match on its official YouTube channel.

Rodtang sets sights on reclaiming ONE flyweight Muay Thai world title

Stripped of the ONE flyweight Muay Thai world title for missing weight in his most recent match, Rodtang Jitmuangnon has vowed to reclaim it and bring it back to Thailand.

He made his desire to do so known after his victory at ONE 169: Malykhin vs. Reug Reug on Nov. 8 in Thailand over Jacob Smith, highlighting how the belt being taken away from him because of his own doing was a wake-up call for him.

'The Iron Man' said this in a post-fight interview with ONE commentator Mitch Chilson, saying:

"I have deep regert for losing that belt. I'm just a kid growing up doing Muay Thai. I'm struggling. I fought hard for that belt and have been through so many hardships. I want to tell everyone that in the future, I will get that belt back and I will take it back to the Thai people!"

Despite the Thai superstar's win, the ONE flyweight Muay Thai world title remained vacant as he was not eligible to win the belt back at ONE 169. Before being stripped of the world title he held since 2019, Rodtang successfully defended it five times.
