Even after a four-year-long break from MMA, Sage Northcutt never stopped training. The 26-year-old phenom has always had a strong presence on social media, motivating other aspiring athletes to get into body-building while promoting nutrition and healthy-eating.
Upon the news of his return, MMA fans have shown nothing but love and support for the athlete as he gears up for his comeback fight against ‘Wolverine’ Ahmed Mujtaba’ at ONE Fight Night 10 on Prime Video.
Sage Northcutt explains why “ring-rust” isn’t going to be a problem at ONE Fight Night 10
As mentioned above, Sage Northcutt hasn’t detracted from training in MMA at all. In a recent interview with Ariel Helwani from The MMA Hour, the karate phenom promised fans that his game has evolved ever since he made his last appearance under the promotion.
Northcutt was riding on the back of three straight victories in his MMA career before making his move to the other side of the world in ONE Championship.
During Northcutt's heyday, the American athlete impressed fans with his acrobatic fighting style, explosiveness and speed. However, after losing to Cosmo Alexander in brutal KO fashion at ONE: Dangal, Northcutt knew he had more work to do.
As such, he’s been training with the best coaches in the United States to close the gap as much as possible before returning to the ring.
Speaking to Helwani, ‘Super’ Sage said:
“I’ve been staying sharp, I’ve been training with incredible training partners, some of the best wrestlers, some of the best jiu-jitsu guys, some of the best strikers. Plus, I’ve been training at 10th planet down in Texas […] So, ring rust, I don’t think it’s going to be a problem.”
