Undefeated middleweight contender Shamil Erdogan introduced himself to the global audience with a highlight-reel knockout victory over Fan Rong in his ONE Championship debut in June 2023 at ONE Friday Fights 22.

The promotion looked back at the ending sequence of the match through a recent Instagram post that was captioned:

In the post, Erdogan used the full length of his legs to land a clean liver shot against the 'King Kong Warrior.' Then, he instantly followed it up with a solid left hook that ended the match at the 0:37 mark of the second frame to secure the victory.

This victory proved that the Turkish powerhouse also packs incredible power and does not just rely on elite-level wrestling to beat his opponents. It was Erdogan's ninth professional victory since transitioning to the professional ranks in 2012.

Shamil Erdogan wants to test his striking skills against Aung La N Sang in their upcoming ONE 168: Denver fight

That impressive win over the Chinese contender has earned Erdogan a gigantic match with former two-division MMA world champion Aung La N Sang on Sept. 6 at the Ball Arena in Colorado as part of the ONE 168: Denver card.

Ahead of his crucial fight with 'The Burmese Python,' the Kremrost Fight Club representative spoke to ONE Championship and revealed that he would like to test his striking against the Myanmar icon, as he said:

"I will fight him both in stand-up and in wrestling. There will be no 'just wrestling.' I've been spending a lot of time on my striking technique lately, and I want to show what I've learned."

ONE 168: Denver will take place at the Ball Arena in U.S. primetime on Sept. 6. Tickets for the event are available on Ticketmaster.
