Russian MMA fighter Shamil Gasanov has been impressive in carving a path for himself in ONE Championship. It all started with an impressive submission victory in his promotional debut two years ago over South Korean Kim Jae Woong, where he was able to showcase his crack wrestling game.
The two clashed at ONE on Prime Video 3 on Oct. 22, 2022 at the Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Despite the featherweight MMA contest being his maiden outing, 'The Cobra' did not waste time in showcasing his impressive wrestling skills, which he used to execute a sublime submission finish in the opening round by way of a rear-naked choke.
ONE Championship uploaded the full fight between the two on its official YouTube channel for fans to relive ahead of Shamil Gasanov's return to action at ONE Fight Night 26: Lee vs. Rasulov on Dec. 6 in Thailand.

Following his impressive debut, Gasanov went 2-1 in his next three matches, with his last fight back in August being a victory over Aaron Canarte of Ecuador by decision.
He now looks to build on it in his showdown against Halil Amir of Turkey in their featherweight MMA collision at ONE Fight Night 26.
ONE Fight Night 26 will go down at Bangkok's Lumpinee Stadium and air live and for free in U.S. primetime to North American fans with an active Amazon Prime Video subscription.
Shamil Gasanov expecting a tough battle against Halil Amir
Shamil Gasanov is confident of holding his own against Halil Amir at ONE Fight Night 26 on Dec. 6 but admits it will hardly be a walk in the park considering what his opponent is capable of.
The 29-year-old Russian powerhouse spoke about it in an interview with ONE Championship, highlighting how like him, Amir has a well-rounded skills set to be a handful.
"[Amir is] a big guy, an excellent striker, and a southpaw. His wrestling is solid, too. He's good in all aspects."
Shamil Gasanov heads into the contest winning his last two matches while Amir seeks to bounce back after he saw his three-fight winning streak clipped in his previous match in May.
