WATCH: Shinya Aoki sends Ev Ting to the shadow realm with tight arm triangle choke

ONE Championship icon Shinya Aoki is headed back to the circle as part of the promotion’s stacked ONE 163 lineup on November 19. The Japanese MMA legend will square off against No.4-ranked featherweight contender Saygid Izagakhmaev.

Ahead of his highly anticipated return, ONE Championship is looking back at one of Shinya Aoki’s most impressive wins.

At ONE: Kingdom of Heroes in 2018, ‘Tobikan Judan’ scored an impressive arm-triangle submission over Ev Ting in just 57-seconds. It was Aoki’s third straight victory and earned him a shot at then-lightweight world champion Eduard Folayang.

Aoki would go on to capture the lightweight crown, besting Folayang with another first-round submission at ONE: A New Era five months later.

Fast forward three years, Aoki will be looking to get back into the win column at ONE 163 and dropping his last two contests inside the circle. At the promotion’s 10th-anniversary showcase ONE X, Aoki suffered a second-round knockout against Yoshihiro Akiyama. He followed that up with a loss to the debuting Kade Ruotolo in a submission grappling bout at ONE 157 in May.

Legend Shinya Aoki isn’t the only Japanese superstar that will make the walk to the circle on November 19.

Also stepping into the cage will be Yushin ‘Thunder’ Okami, who meets former two-division world champion Aung La N Sang. With both fighters hitting a run of bad luck as of late, it could very well be win or go home for ‘The Burmese Python’ and Okami at ONE 163.

Also making her return is fast-rising 23-year-old star Itsuki Hirata. Coming off the biggest win of her career against Lin Heqin at ONE on Prime Video 1, Hirata will face her toughest test yet against No.2-ranked atomweight contender Ham Seo Hee.

Entering the bout undefeated inside the circle, Ham could find herself as the next woman in line for a shot at atomweight queen Angela Lee.
