Rodtang Jitmuangnon sprang into action following the blockbuster announcement of his long-awaited clash with Takeru Segawa during a press conference in Tokyo, Japan, last Monday, Dec. 16.
The two striking icons are set to headline ONE 172 in a flyweight kickboxing super-fight at the legendary Super Saitama Arena on March 23, 2025.
Rather than return to his hotel to wait for his flight back to Thailand, the former ONE flyweight Muay Thai world champion headed straight to a local gym. Donning his custom-tailored suit, he wasted no time and began pounding the pads.

It’s easy to understand why 'The Iron Man' is so fired up. The encounter with Takeru was originally slated for ONE 165 earlier this year, but Rodtang had to pull out due to a hand injury.
Takeru shared the same enthusiasm for the matchup, as he showed after his come-from-behind victory over Thant Zin at ONE Friday Fights 81 this past September.
Moments after getting his hand raised in triumph, the Japanese sensation called out Rodtang, who was seated ringside at Bangkok’s Lumpinee Stadium. The tension hit a fever pitch when Rodtang entered the ring.
The two then went nose-to-nose, exchanging intense stares that electrified the crowd. Now that the date has been booked, both men have the opportunity to settle the score.
Takeru promises to train like there’s no more tomorrow
Takeru Segawa, like Rodtang Jitmuangnon, understands the stakes of this monumental bout.
Speaking at the press event to promote ONE 172, “The Natural Bone Crusher” shared his expectations and excitement for the showdown:
"I'm not thinking about anything beyond this fight. I will put everything from my martial arts life into this battle. I expect us to have the greatest striking match where one of us might break, so Rodtang, I look forward to it."
