Before making his debut on the big show, Thai striking star Kongthoranee Sor Sommai was a staple to the weekly Friday Fights of ONE Championship, where he won seven of his eight matches.
Included in this pile of wins was his outstanding come-from-behind victory over fellow Thai compatriot Gingsanglek Wor Kumchamnarn in February 2024 in the main event of ONE Friday Fights 6.

Konthoranee suffered an early knockdown in the opening round before mounting a comeback in the same round by scoring a knockdown of his own to make the fight more entertaining.
With momentum on his side heading into the second stanza, the 28-year-old unleashed a picture-perfect left hook that flattened the Tor Laksong Gym representative.

The Sor Sommai representative is now pitted against Nakrob Fairtex on Dec. 6 at ONE Fight Night 26 in a flyweight Muay Thai contest in front of the packed Lumpinee Stadium crowd in Bangkok, Thailand.
Before that match with his fellow Thai contender, Kongthoranee admitted in a recent interview with ONE Championship that he wanted a stoppage win over the Russian in his previous fight, as he explained:
"In the second round, I tried to work on his legs and body, trying to finish him off but I couldn't. In the third round, I kept going, changing my strategy to alternate between kicking from the top and bottom, which made him nervous, but I couldn't finish him off. After three rounds, I was confident that I would win because I landed more punches."
