The two warriors met in a women’s atomweight MMA duel, with Stamp — the then-ONE atomweight Muay Thai and kickboxing world champion — still finding her footing in the all-encompassing sport at the time.

However, that night at the 20,000-seater Mall of Asia Arena in Manila, Philippines, Stamp made a bold statement, reminding everyone why she deserved to be taken seriously by delivering a dominant win over Nguyen.

The Thai heroine showcased her superior striking, systematically dismantling Nguyen in the standup battle while also demonstrating her improved grappling by successfully defending against the Vietnamese's takedown attempts.

Nguyen, who managed to stand her ground for three rounds, struggled to land effective shots against the fast-paced and versatile Stamp. In the end, her Thai opponent emerged with a clear-cut unanimous decision win.

From that moment on, it was clear that Stamp was destined for success in MMA. She went on to win eight of her next 10 bouts, with five of those victories coming by finish.

Stamp’s ultimate breakthrough came in September 2023 when she captured the vacant ONE women’s atomweight MMA world championship with a third-round TKO victory over Ham Seo Hee.

With this triumph, she completed her dream of claiming a major title in a third sport, further cementing her legacy as one of the greatest martial artists of all time.

Stamp Fairtex to keep a close eye on interim title tilt at ONE Fight Night 27

Stamp will be keeping a close watch on a pivotal showdown in her weight class on Friday, January 10.

While Stamp is still recovering from a knee injury, Denice Zamboanga will face Alyona Rassohyna for the ONE interim women’s atomweight MMA world championship at ONE Fight Night 27, live in U.S. primetime from the iconic Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

The winner of this contest will take on Stamp in a world title unification bout, provided her doctors clear her to return later this year.
