There is a reason why ONE flyweight Muay Thai world champion Rodtang Jitmuangnon is considered one of the most entertaining fighters in the sport today. If there is a visual representation of that reason, then it's his fight with French striker Hakim Hamech back in 2019.
The bout, which took place at ONE: A New Era in Tokyo, Japan, was full of fireworks from start to finish. Rodtang Jitmuangnon showcased his usual monstrous aggression and iron jaw as he clobbered and kicked the Frenchman every chance get got. As for Hamech, he did what most were too afraid to even attempt: engage Rodtang in a firefight inside the pocket.
The result was the closest to a human equivalent of a Rock ’em Sock ’em Robots game. Both men threw everything but the kitchen sink and ate every blow to the chin like it was nothing. It's a classic blood-and-guts war akin to the olden days of prizefighting, where fighters fought with absolute grit not for gold but only for glory.

Rodtang Jitmuangnon to face Jiduo Yibu at ONE Fight Night on Prime Video 6 on January 13
As ONE looks to start 2023 on a high note, one of the promotion’s most prominent world champions, Rodtang Jitmuangnon, will step back into action.
At ONE Fight Night 6 on Prime Video, the ONE flyweight Muay Thai world champion will venture into the kickboxing world by facing China’s Jidou Yibu on the main card.
After making a remarkable promotional debut against Daniel Puertas last year, Jidou will face perhaps the most famous Muay Thai fighter today under the kickboxing ruleset. It's a tough task for anybody's sophomore outing in ONE.
In 2022, Rodtang faced MMA great and ONE flyweight world champion Demetrious Johnson in ONE's first-ever mixed-rules fight. Although he came up short in the high-profile super fight, the proud Thai fighter proved his unrelenting pursuit to become the greatest striker of his generation.
In his only world title defense last year, Rodtang reminded the world why he's cut above the rest by defeating strawweight Muay Thai world champ Joseph Lasiri. After completely battering the Italian-Moroccan from bell to bell, expect ‘The Iron Man’ to show that he will not lose his trademark power and aggression despite trying out different rulesets.
