ONE Championship recently posted a video of Rodtang Jitmuangnon’s masterclass performance against Jacob Smith.
On May 20, 2022, Rodtang extended his flyweight Muay Thai world championship reign with a unanimous decision win over a former British Muay Thai champion. At the time, ‘The Iron Man’ was looking to bounce back from losing in a historic mixed-rules bout against Demetrious Johnson.
Smith was hoping to pull off a massive upset in his promotional debut against Rodtang.

Six months after defeating Smith, Rodtang returned to the Circle against strawweight Muay Thai world champion Joseph Lasiri. ‘The Hurricane’ showcased his courage but couldn’t get the job done, leading to ‘The Iron Man’ earning his 11th Muay Thai win under the ONE banner.
Rodtang then sought a new challenge by fighting in kickboxing for the first time since February 2021. The Thai superstar received a late opponent switch after a fighter shuffle resulting from Ilias Ennahachi vacating the ONE flyweight kickboxing world title he was scheduled to defend.
As a result, his originally scheduled opponent, Daniel Puertas was replaced with Chinese striker Jiduo Yibu. ‘The Iron Man’ made the most of the opportunity, winning via unanimous decision at ONE Fight Night 6 on Prime Video.
What’s next for Rodtang Jitmuangnon?
Rodtang Jitmuangnon returned to kickboxing with the intention of becoming a world champion. After making a statement against Jiduo Yibu, ‘The Iron Man’ will get the opportunity to become the ONE flyweight kickboxing world champion against Superlek Kiatmoo9 at ONE Fight Night 8 on Prime Video.
Although Rodtang is motivated to earn kickboxing gold, he plans to stay active in the flyweight Muay Thai division. The 25-year-old already has his next bout scheduled, as he is set to defend his flyweight Muay Thai throne against Edgar Juarez Tabares at ONE Fight Night 10 on Prime Video. Tabares is making his promotional debut and has the tools to test ‘The Iron Man'.
