WATCH: The premier hype video for the colossal Rodtang vs. Superlek showdown in Bangkok

The biggest Muay Thai fight in ONE Championship this 2023 will finally be witnessed as ONE flyweight world champion Rodtang Jitmuangnon faces ONE flyweight kickboxing world champion Superlek Kiatmoo9 in the main event of ONE Friday Fights 34 in a 140-pound catchweight contest.

Because Superlek missed weight, this monumental clash will now be a non-title match, but the importance of this showdown is still very much the same. Both are setting aside their friendship to settle the debate on who's better between them and be rightfully called the best pound-for-pound Muay Thai athlete in the world today.

Before ‘The Iron Man’ and ‘The Kicking Machine’ trade strikes inside the hallowed ring of the Lumpinee Boxing Stadium, ONE Championship posted the extended fight preview of the fight on their YouTube channel, and they captioned it with:

“Preview the biggest Muay Thai fight of the century, as Rodtang squares off with Superlek in the main event of ONE Friday Fights 34 on September 22!”

In the video, the world’s largest martial arts organization looked back on the journey that both Rodtang and Superlek went through for this gigantic clash and how their paths crossed. For the Jitmuangnon Gym representative, he became undefeated in all 14 fights in Muay Thai and kickboxing in ONE Championship, including three finishes to capture the Muay Thai world title.

On the other hand, Superlek won 11 fights across Muay Thai and kickboxing rulesets with four finishes; however, he received a controversial unanimous decision loss at the hands of Ilias Ennahachi in February 2021. But since that defeat, he has racked up seven successive victories en route to becoming the kickboxing world champion.

The fight promo also featured the final message of Rodtang and Superlek to each other, which added more excitement. ‘The Iron Man’ warned that he will be aggressive in the match, and even if Superlek comes out victorious, he is going to get hurt in the fight by saying:

“Do I think Superlek can beat me? It won’t be easy. But even if he wins, he will emerge badly injured. Whoever thinks they can beat me easily, I’ll show them how aggressive and brutal I can be, so they never think about beating me ever again.”

Meanwhile, Superlek shared that he came up with a specific strike that he believes can put Rodtang out if he can execute it perfectly. He shared:

“I have a special strike prepared for Rodtang just for this fight. He might think he’s durable, but he hasn’t fought me. He hasn’t fought me yet. If my special strike lands, my coaches and I think it could be a knockout blow.”
