Denice Zamboanga's dominant performance over Alyona Rassohyna at ONE Fight Night 27 on Friday, January 10, came as a surprise to many, but thankfully, her spectacular display was captured on video from multiple angles.
ONE Championship recently shared a ringside view of Zamboanga’s relentless ground assault in the second round, which secured her the ONE interim women’s atomweight MMA world championship.

After five long years of cancellations, injuries, and delays. 'The Menace' finally achieved her dream of claiming 26 pounds of gold.
In the opening round, the T-Rex MMA representative engaged Rassohyna on the feet, landing sharp punches. However, the Ukrainian quickly countered with a takedown, bringing Zamboanga to the canvas.
On the ground, Rassohyna sought an armbar, but the 27-year-old Filipina skillfully escaped. By the second round, Zamboanga resumed her striking, picking apart the Ukrainian from the outside.
Under pressure, Rassohyna shot for another takedown, but Zamboanga seized the opportunity to take side control. From there, she unleashed a barrage of elbows and hammer-fists until referee Herb Dean stepped in at 4:47 to call a halt to the contest.
With her victory, Zamboanga earned more than just the interim crown. She also claimed a $50,000 performance bonus from ONE Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong and made history as the first Filipina to win an MMA world title.
What’s next for Denice Zamboanga?
Looking ahead, a world title unification bout looms for Denice Zamboanga as lineal queen Stamp Fairtex works on recovering from a torn meniscus that she sustained last year.
While there's no set timeline for Stamp's return, Zamboanga seems ready to defend her interim title, leaving the timing of her next assignment in the hands of ONE Championship's decision-makers.
She said this in the post-event interview:
“It's up to ONE Championship because I don't think I have injuries after this, but yeah, it's up to ONE Championship.”
