‘The Hurricane’ Smilla Sundell is headed towards doing great things in the combat sports world.
The young ONE women’s strawweight Muay Thai world champion has gone beyond all expectations since she joined ONE Championship in 2021. Her skills spoke for itself in her ONE debut when she seamlessly destroyed Australia’s Diandra Martin in just three rounds.
She glowed with confidence and demonstrated excellent killer instincts from the start as she laid her assault on her opposition.
Since then, Sundell has wreaked havoc within the women’s strawweight division. She’s collected a perfect ensemble of three straight wins and zero losses.

And now, as her competition gets more difficult as she moves forward, ‘The Hurricane’ is primed to test her skills against another fellow world champion, ONE atomweight Muay Thai queen Allycia Hellen Rodrigues.
Before Smilla Sundell defends her strawweight Muay Thai crown on September 29 at ONE Fight Night 14, watch her rapid ascension to the top in the video below:
Smilla Sundell is undoubtedly one of the strongest strikers on the roster. She’s spent most of her waking hours training alongside the greats in Thailand, so it’s very difficult to imagine any other fighter matching her skills and tenacity.
However, Allycia Hellen Rodrigues also comes highly recommended. The mom-champ defeated two major superstars—former two-sport world champion Stamp Fairtex and former ONE interim atomweight Muay Thai, and current atomweight kickboxing world champion Janet Todd—to capture undisputed gold.
If Sundell can get past Rodrigues’ power with some amazing counter-striking, then she’s got a good chance of doing enough damage to reach a decision.
