In this highlight clip, Ruotolo takes on fellow American grappler 'The Lion Killer' Garry Tonon at ONE 157 in May of 2022.
Ruotolo made quick work of his esteemed opponent, tapping out Tonon with a D'arce choke just a little over a minute into the contest and introducing himself to millions of ONE Championship fans around the world.
Today, Ruotolo has quickly becoming one of the promotion's biggest stars, and is the undisputed ONE lightweight submission grappling world champion.
We won't have to wait long to see Ruotolo back in action, as he heads back to the battlefield next week at ONE Fight Night 23.
Fans in the United States and Canada can catch all the action live and absolutely free on Amazon Prime Video. The event airs on Friday, July 5th, at 8:00 pm ET.
Tye Ruotolo to follow in his twin brother Kade's footsteps?
Tye Ruotolo is expected to make his MMA debut later this year, like his twin brother Kade, the ONE lightweight submission grappling world champion.
Kade made the jump to MMA earlier this month, defeating Blake Cooper with a rear-naked choke at ONE 167 on Prime Video.
Speaking on the difference between he and Kade, Tye says he is more of an introvert compared to his twin. The 21-year-old told ONE Championship:
"I probably hermit out more than Kade does. Kade enjoys making a lot of connections, sponsorship type of things. I like to hermit out a little bit. I’m outgoing, but when I’m at home, I’m happy. I think that’s the biggest difference."
