ONE 167 last Friday, June 7, featured some intense bouts across the card. Victoria Souza made the most of her opportunity to fight in front of a jam-packed crowd.
Staring across from her inside the circle was women's atomweight MMA star Itsuki Hirata, one of the division's best grapplers who has fought in some high-profile contests in the world's largest martial arts promotion.
Midway through the contest, Hirata misjudged a double-leg takedown. 'Vick' subsequently capitalized, pulling into full guard to cinch in a deep guillotine choke that sent her to sleep.
ONE Championship posted a ringside view of the finish via Instagram, which can be seen below:

The win pushed Souza's record in ONE Championship to two wins, her second one after her first win in February 2023 when she defeated Linda Darrow via unanimous decision.
Victoria Souza impresses ranked ONE women's atomweight MMA fighter
To defeat Hirata in such a manner is a major feather in the cap of the Brazilian 26-year-old and her performance did not go unnoticed by No. 2-ranked women's atomweight MMA star Denice Zamboanga.
In an exclusive interview with Sportskeeda MMA following ONE 167, 'The Menace' gave props to Souza for pulling off what seemed unthinkable:
"I didn't expect that because I know Itsuki, she trains very hard just to get her winning streak back, you know. But, yeah, as I said, anything can happen in a fight."
