In an interview with Daniel Cormier, Darren Till was put on the spot by the former two-weight champion when he was asked about the arm tattoo of his ex-girlfriend. 'The Gorilla' was left redfaced when asked by 'DC' about the tattoo, which has since been modified by the Liverpudlian.

"F*****g hell, mate, come on. [You're] putting me on the spot. It was just time, wasn't it, [I had] my ex-girlfriend on it. It was a mad little story, how I even for the [tattoo], and that. So, I was in a 24-hour tattoo studio when I got it. So, I'd fought in Brazil and I had won a fight. I was out for, like, three days [and] I ended up getting the [tattoo] in some 24-hour [tattoo studio which was a] dingy little gaff. And, ever since, I haven't been bothered to take it off."

'The Gorilla' further elaborated how on some days, his current girlfriend would have to wake up in the morning and look at his tattoo featuring his ex-girlfriend. Till has since modified the tattoo to cover his ex-girlfriend's face with that of a gorilla, which is his namesake.

Darren Till's UFC career so far

When Darren Till entered the UFC, he seemed like an unstoppable force with an undefeated record and an intriguing backstory.

Prior to joining the premier MMA organization, Till survived a near-death experience in his hometown of Liverpool in 2012, in a stabbing incident. Following the incident, on the advice of his coach, he moved to Brazil for approximately four years, where he forged his MMA career.

In the UFC, he had a spectacular run-up to the title at welterweight, defeating the likes of Donald Cerrone and Stephen Thompson. However, when he met the then-reigning champion, Tyron Woodley, at UFC 228, he was dropped and submitted in the second round.

Prior to losing to Woodley, 'The Gorilla' exuded supreme confidence and an aura of invincibility similar to Conor McGregor. However, the loss to Woodley seemed to have sapped the enthusiasm out of Till. Worse for Till was his getting knocked out clean by Jorge Masvidal in his next fight at UFC Fight Night 147. The loss seemed like it depleted whatever confidence Till had in his abilities.

Darren Till had a history of missing weight at 170 lbs, so he made his return to middleweight at UFC 244 - a division he last fought in in 2014. Till had a split decision victory over Kelvin Gastelum at UFC 244, but has since been on a three-fight losing skid.

He lost his No.9-ranked spot in the middleweight rankings to Dricus du Plessis (who moved up to No.10 from No.13) at UFC 282 following his loss to the South African native. Till is currently No.15-ranked in the UFC middleweight division.
