Their first encounter was a thrilling chess match, with Superbon pushing the reigning champion to his absolute limit through sharp counter-striking and crisp boxing combinations. However, it was Tawanchai who eked out a narrow majority decision victory, retaining his 26 pounds of gold in the process.
Since that battle, Superbon has captured the featherweight kickboxing crown and authored a decisive win over “Smokin’” Jo Nattawut in September to book a second date with Tawanchai.
Determined to even the score, Superbon has been working relentlessly to bridge the gap. In an interview with ONE, he acknowledged Tawanchai’s youthful edge but emphasized that experience could be the key to victory this time around:
“With the more experience I have, I do have an advantage over him, from saving my energy and my sharper skills. That’s what I think I have my advantage in.”
Tawanchai looks to bank on familiarity in rematch vs. Superbon
Meanwhile, Tawanchai PK Saenchai recognizes the danger Superbon brings to the table.
Speaking in a separate interview, the defending champion credited his rival’s best attributes. But after sharing the stage with him for 15 grueling minutes, Tawanchai is confident that he now understands what to expect from the challenger:
“Superbon’s strengths are his sharp eye, razor attacks, and good timing. But now, I can read him like a book. I know every trick he’s going to bring to me, but I won’t say them now.”
