Marcus 'Buchecha' Almeida is back and barged through to the win column in one of his most impressive displays of The Gentle Art.
The Brazilian jiu-jitsu legend scored a sublime submission win over Amir Aliakbari at the stacked ONE 169 card this past weekend at the historic Lumpinee Stadium.
Taking to Instagram, 'Buchecha' expressed his euphoria for the comeback win in what should be another highlight reel moment for the 17-time BJJ world champion.

Almeida wrote:
"There is no better feeling than victory. I am so happy with this result today. I have no words to describe this feeling, thanks to everyone who was here with me today on the battlefield and everyone who helped me in this camp, helping me get here 100% and prepared for this fight!"
He added:
"Thank you to all my coaches at @americantopteam and all my training partners who are in the daily battle with me, and also to all my friends from @phuketfightclub who welcomed me here in Thailand since the day I arrived in this country for the first time. And of course, thank you to everyone who admires and supports my work in victory or defeat. Let’s go because now WE ARE BACK!"
Although Aliakbari is a former Greco-Roman Wrestling world champion, Almeida flaunted his pedigree on the ground and quickly controlled the Iranian superstar from top position.
Almeida then worked his magic and submitted Aliakbari with a textbook rear-naked choke 1:45 into the match.
The blistering submission win also earned Almeida a cool $50,000 bonus from ONE Championship CEO Chatri Sityodtong.
'Buchecha' says his first-round submission of Amir Aliakbari exactly how he planned it
Marcus 'Buchecha' Almeida is arguably the best representation of BJJ in MMA, and his run of first-round finishes is proof of just how lethal he is on the ground.
The American Top Team star holds five first-round finishes in ONE Championship, four of which ended in a submission.
Talking to ONE Championship commentator Mitch Chilson following his win, Almeida said his rear-naked choke finish of Amir Aliakbari perfectly played out to his pre-fight predictions.
"To be honest with you, when we did the commentator interview, you forgot to ask me the position, but I had in my mind, I would show you a back take. So that’s what I had in my mind. Sooner or later, I would be finishing him on his back and get the job done. It was exactly what I envisioned.”
