Three years removed from his first meeting with Rodtang Jitmuangnon, Jonathan Haggerty still believes he won the fight.
Jonathan Haggerty and Rodtang delivered two legendary performances against one another inside the circle, the first coming at ONE: Dawn of Heroes in 2019. That night, ‘The Iron Man’ bested ‘The General’ capturing the ONE flyweight Muay Thai world championship in the process.
Haggerty has always remained adamant that he had done enough to retain his title, but the judges did not feel the same way.
Discussing the historic bout with ONE Championship, Haggerty again claims to have won the fight but tries not to dwell on it too much:

“I feel like I've only lost once in ONE Championship and it was against Rodtang. I feel like I won the first fight we had. I believe I won. I thought I did enough to win it, but we won't dwell on the past.”
Five months after their first meeting, Jonathan Haggerty received an opportunity to reclaim the flyweight title at ONE: A New Tomorrow. This time, there would be no doubt as to who the winner was. ‘The Iron Man’ delivered another stellar performance, knocking out ‘The General’ in the third round and officially putting their rivalry to bed once and for all.
Despite his move to bantamweight, Jonathan Haggerty believes there is still some unfinished business at flyweight
When Jonathan Haggerty makes his long-awaited return to the circle this Friday night as part of an absolutely stacked ONE on Prime Video 4 card, he will make his debut in the ONE bantamweight Muay Thai division.
While his move has largely been the result of issues safely making the flyweight as of late, ‘The General’ believes he performed well at the lighter weight class and suggests there could be some unfinished business there:
“I feel that I left flyweight on top. I still think there's unfinished business, who knows, I might go from flyweight to bantamweight and keep going up and down. I'm not too sure yet. I'm going to see how the bantamweight division goes for me first. I’m just going to take it step by step.”
With his only losses coming against the aforementioned Rodtang, Haggerty could still be a force at flyweight, assuming he can properly cut weight and hydrate as needed.
Many fans have shown an interest in seeing Haggerty square off with ‘The Iron Man’ in a trilogy bout. Perhaps fans don’t have to give up on seeing that come to fruition after all.
‘The General’ will make his bantamweight debut this Friday night against Russian striker Vladimir Kuzmin. The bout and many more will air live and free for Amazon Prime Video subscribers in U.S. primetime.
