“We’re back!” - ONE Championship announces return to Qatar with ONE 171 in February 2025

ONE Championship is going back to Qatar for the first quarter of 2025.

The promotion announced on its social media pages that it will have its second card in the Gulf nation, with ONE 171 set for Feb. 20, 2025, at Lusail Sports Arena.

This marks the second time in less than 12 months that ONE Championship holds a card in Doha after the success of ONE 166: Qatar in March this year:

"We're back," the promotion wrote on its official graphics card on Instagram.

"ONE Championship is returning to Qatar 🇶🇦👊 The world's best martial artists are going back to Doha for ONE 171 on February 20, 2025! 🔥," the promotion posted.

Overall, ONE 171 marks the third time that ONE Championship holds a major card in the Middle East. The promotion staged its first event in the region with ONE: Reign of Champions in Dubai, United Arab Emirates in August 2014 at Dubai World Trade Centre.

While it took ONE Championship nearly a decade to return to the Middle East, it now looks to maintain a strong presence in the region with ONE 171.

The promotion has yet to reveal a full card for the event, but it would be plausible to see at least two world title matches like what ONE 166 had in March.

ONE 166 saw the ONE middleweight, featherweight, and strawweight MMA world titles get put on the line with new world champions getting crowned on the card.

Anatoly Malykhin took the ONE middleweight MMA world title from Reinier de Ridder, Tang Kai became the undisputed ONE featherweight MMA world champion against Thanh Le, and Joshua Pacio reclaimed the ONE strawweight MMA world championship from Jarred Brooks.

ONE 171 part of ONE Championship's massive start to 2025

ONE Championship plans to start 2025 with a crazy line up of fight cards.

Apart from its Qatar showcase with ONE 171, the promotion earlier announced ONE 170 and ONE Fight Night 27 which are both set for Bangkok in January.

ONE Fight Night 27 is the promotion's first Amazon card for 2025, with Tang Kai defending the ONE featherweight MMA world title against the undefeated knockout machine Akbar Abdullaev on Jan. 10 at Lumpinee Stadium.

ONE 170 is set for Jan. 24 with a trio of world title fights at Impact Arena.

Tawanchai PK Saenchai's defense of the ONE featherweight Muay Thai world title against Superbon, the ONE interim featherweight kickboxing world champion, will headline ONE 170.
