“We’re going to make a lot of history” - Mikey Musumeci ready for battle after wrapping up camp with BJJ legend ‘Cobrinha’ Charles

Mikey Musumeci is ready to unleash hell when he faces Gabriel Sousa at their Bangkok grudge match. The reigning ONE flyweight submission grappling world champion will move up in weight to face Sousa in a bantamweight match at ONE 167 on June 7 at Impact Arena.

To get into peak fighting shape, Musumeci enlisted the help of Brazilian jiu-jitsu legend Rubens 'Cobrinha' Charles and trained under the 12-time BJJ world champion in Los Angeles.

In an Instagram post, 'Cobrinha' wrote a sneaky caption on why Musumeci is on a different level and that the five-time BJJ world champion is ready for whatever Sousa throws at him.

"There are levels to this game and @mikeymusumeci is on another level," wrote Charles in his post.

Mikey Musumeci, meanwhile, promised his new coach that he would push further after wrapping up his training camp.

He wrote in the comments section:

"I am very blessed and grateful to learn from you teacher 😭❤️🙏. I have learned so much 😭. Let's do this!!!! Always learning, always having fun with the process!!! 🙇🏻♂ We're going to make a lot of history ❤️❤️❤️."

Musumeci first competed against Sousa at Who's Number One, where he lost to the Brazilian star.

Holding a perfect 6-0 record in ONE Championship, Musumeci wants nothing more than to extend that perfect promotional mark and exact revenge against the last man to beat him on the mats.

Although Mikey Musumeci had his main training camp in Los Angeles under 'Cobrinha', he also trained on the side in his hometown of Las Vegas.

Musumeci often visited Faito Tamashii Combat Club to train with former UFC flyweight world champion Brandon Moreno.
