ONE strawweight MMA world champion Joshua Pacio is making sure to do his research ahead of his long-awaited return to competition at ONE 171.

In recent years, his career has been defined by one specific opponent in the strawweight division.

'The Monkey God' has produced some great results and dominant victories since joining the promotion with his only loss at strawweight being the disqualification outcome that ended his most recent encounter with Pacio at ONE 166: Qatar.

As a result, both men now have a win over one another but at ONE 171, they will participate in a trilogy in a strawweight world title unification bout in Qatar.

Before he steps back inside the Lusail Sports Arena to face off with Brooks once again, Joshua Pacio recently spoke about the extensive homework that they have put into this camp.

He told The MMA Superfan in a recent interview that they have left no stone unturned when breaking down their next opponent:

"I've reviewed a lot of techniques that he keeps doing, not just in our fights, but also in his fight against Reece, Balart, and his other fights in the past. So we're reviewing all his movements to see which ones we should counter."

Joshua Pacio can always be better prepared

Joshua Pacio already knows Jarred Brooks well as an opponent having spent a full five rounds with him in their first encounter at ONE 164 in 2022.

However, on that occasion, Pacio did not have an answer for the game of 'The Monkey God' even if he was able to keep the fight standing.

The divisional king will now look to be a step ahead of the interim titleholder in what is likely their final meeting.

On Feb. 20 in Qatar, the third fight between them is for all the marbles — and both men certainly know that.
