At ONE on Prime Video 5, Roberto Soldic will make his highly anticipated debut with his new promotion. After some speculation as to where the former KSW double champion would go, the news that he had signed with ONE Championship became a huge story.
On December 2 (US primetime), Roberto Soldic will face the undefeated Murad Ramazanov in a huge fight in the welterweight division. The entire event will be live and free for North American viewers with a Prime subscription.
Ahead of the start of a new chapter in his career, ‘Robocop’ reflected on the early stages of his career in an interview with ONE Championship.
Speaking about his family and their relationship with what he does for a living, the Croatian star said:

“[My] family was scared for me in the beginning, but now they believe in me and when I say want money and everything, they say, ‘I don't care, just stay healthy, we don't need anything.’ We still stay humble, and they're always saying to me when I go to Bosnia to say hello to everyone and they don't have any problems. It's good. Still old-school what we do before, not too much trash talk and everything. We are happy and now this new generation is a little bit different but it's the evolution of everything and we cannot change anything.”
Roberto Soldic woke up early as a kid just to watch his hero Mirko 'Cro Cop' Filipovic
Before becoming a star in his own right, Roberto Soldic grew up as an MMA fan. In his home country of Croatia, there was one fighter leading the way for the region, Mirko Filipovic.
The Croatian heavyweight kickboxer and MMA legend, also known as Mirko Cro Cop, became one of the most legendary names and faces in the sport during his career.
With iconic runs in multiple promotions all around the world, 'Cro Cop' was a hero to the people of Croatia.
As Roberto Soldic prepares to follow in his idol’s footsteps and become a global superstar, he reminisced about the times that he would wake up early in the morning just to watch 'Cro Cop' compete.
Soldic told ONE Championship:
“We used to watch Cro Cop in Japan. So we wake up always in the morning, like, three, four o'clock in the night.”
After already accomplishing double world champion status in his former promotion KSW, Soldic is a big star in Croatia. But on December 2, he has the opportunity to replicate what 'Cro Cop' did and represent his country all over the world.
