Former interim UFC welterweight champion Colby Covington recently sat down with the press to promote UFC Tampa. Headlining the December 14 card with him is no.9-ranked welterweight Joaquin Buckley. As usual, the presser became the Colby Covington show, with the former interim champ delivering one headline-worthy soundbyte after another.
One of the interesting parts of the event was when a member of the press told Covington that Donald Trump was heard saying that Khabib Nurmagomedov was his favorite fighter. Being an outspoken Trump supporter, one would assume that this might upset 'Chaos'.
Surprisingly, the UFC welterweight star said:

"He [Trump] didn't say that Khabib [Nurmagomedov] was his favorite fighter. He was just asked who are some of [his] favorite fighters and he just saw Khabib the weekend before so he's given a shoutout to him. You know, we want good relations with Russia. It made sense to go that route."
He continued:
"We want peace in the Middle East. We want peace around the world. We want don't want Russia going after Ukraine. We need more peace...He was a lot of favorite fighters that he likes. I know I'm one of his favorite fighters."

Colby Covington asked Elon Musk if we'll ever go to Pluto
Colby Covington continued to praise Donald Trump, mentioning how the new US President-elect invited him over for Thanksgiving dinner, where the UFC star got to rub elbows with some notable personalities. 'Chaos' was proud to say that one of Trump's children, Barron Trump, introduced him to Tesla and SpaceX founder and CEO, Elon Musk.
Covington said (19:29):
"Super thankful to know Baron Trump and have gotten to share a conversation with Elon Musk. You know, I asked him, 'Hey. are we going to go to Pluto? Why can't we go to Pluto?' and Elon started laughing. He's like, 'Colby, Pluto's way too far. But I can tell you that we're going to a million people on Mars'."
He continued:
"So I was like, 'Wow, Elon, that's so awesome'. And, you know, he was just talking about who my favorite fighters were and this and that. And it was a great Thanksgiving trip with Donald Trump and the family."
Colby Covington was one of the first fighters to be outspoken in their support for Donald Trump. The former interim UFC champion was seen wearing MAGA hats and sporting suits like a politician all the way back in late 2019, when Trump was running for re-election after his first term.
