“We will forcefully fight each other” – Shinya Aoki says Mikey Musumeci clash will turn into a war of attrition

In his return at ONE Fight Night 15, Mikey Musumeci will challenge himself in a new way inside the circle.

On Friday, October 6, he will compete at the iconic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, in an openweight submission grappling contest.

With completely dominant wins and ruthless finishes, no one can touch Musumeci right now in the flyweight division.

In search of new and interesting challenges, he will now face a larger opponent and a competitor that can outmatch him when it comes to experience at the highest level.

Japanese MMA icon Shinya Aoki is a pioneer of grappling in Asia but he has never competed against someone with the technical prowess and finesse of Musumeci.

As the best in the world today meets one of the competitors that paved the road that he is currently walking down, the fans will be in for a treat with this clash of styles and eras.

In an interview with ONE Championship, Aoki spoke about how he expects his game to fair against Mikey Musumeci and how he will look to bring the aggression on fight night:

“It will be a match where we will forcefully fight each other. I am determined to do my best against him.”

With his experience in MMA, Aoki will need to play to every strength that is available to him in order to combat the elite grappling IQ of the flyweight divisional king.
